Welcome to the CSI Calicut Students Branch homepage.Computer Society of India was established on 1965 and since then it has grown to a stage where itreaches all levels of IT.The purpose of the Society are scientific and educational directed towards the advancement of theory and practice of computer science,computer engineering and technology,systems sciences and engineering,information processing and related arts and sciences. Computer Society of India is a national organization with its headquarters at Mumbai.It has branches all over India including the Calicut chapter. The CSI Calicut chapter is a highly reputed organization with important contributions from the REC community. The Calicut chapter has organized many programs aimed at improving computer awareness of the people, particularly among students. One of the big events recently conducted was a Conference on Advanced Computing [ cADCOM '98] in REC. The program was conducted during the the first week of April 98, in collobaration with REC Calicut, CEDT Calicut & IIM Calicut. Program was a big success and was attended by delegates from all over India & abroad. Calicut branch of CSI also has a student branch whose councillor is Dr. M. P. Sebastian, of Computer Science & Engineering Department, REC Calicut.Programs conducted by the Calicut Student Branch is mainly for students of REC Calicut. We have conducted classes, talks & workshops on various topics related to computer. Not restricting ourselves to software, CSB has even conducted a computer hardware course. The Present chairman of the Calicut Student Branch is Arshad Hisham, vice chairmen are Jithendra .p , Secretary is Dheeraj Buduru & Joint Secratory is Asif E.T.V. Treasurers of CSB are K.V.Savin & Dhara Shah. The main objectives of the society are

• promote interchange of information,in these disciplines and subdisciplines,amongst the specialists and between the specialists and the public;
• encourage and assist the professionals engaged in these fields to maintain the integrity and competence of the profession;and
• foster a sense of partnership amongst professionals engaged in these fields.
